TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Dubrovnik: The lively city of Dubrovnik, protected by magnificent medieval walls, will conquer your heart through its fascinating number of landmarks, lively atmosphere, and inspiring culture.

Hvar Island: Explore sun-drenched lavender fields, historic squares, and the lively harbor of this glamorous Adriatic island.

Split: This seaside Dalmatian town is a must-see, framed by a beautiful mountain backdrop and aqua-coloured waters, with some of the best Roman ruins in the world.

Day 1: ARRIVAL DUBROVNIK

Arrive at Dubrovnik Airport and collect your rental car. You will receive information regarding the vehicle and how to proceed on your departure day. Drive to your hotel and check in. If time permits, spend the remainder of the day exploring Dubrovnik’s pedestrian-only Old Town. Walk the iconic City Walls, and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea.

Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 2: DUBROVNIK - HVAR (200km – 4.5hrs)

Drive north along the spectacular Adriatic coastal road, soaking in views of the sea and mountains. Arrive at the Drvenik ferry port and board the Drvenik - Sućuraj ferry, operated by Jadrolinija. Enjoy the quick 35-minute crossing to the island of Hvar, then drive this scenic road across the island to your hotel.

Known for its year-round beautiful weather, trendy bars, posh yachters, and swanky hotels, the island of Hvar has positioned itself as one of the most visited Croatian islands. But it is not all about partying and luxury, as this island has so much more to offer. Surrounded by stunning scenery, including magical lavender fields, Hvar is a place rich in cultural and historical heritage. The island's capital, of the same name, is located on the south-western coast of the island in the cove that is protected by scattered islands, known as the Pakleni Islands.

Overnight on Hvar.

Day 3: HVAR

Depending on your exact hotel location, make plans for today's sightseeing. Don’t miss visiting the town of Hvar and its Cathedral of St. Stephan, the Franciscan monastery, Hvar town loggia, the Hektorović Palace, the Arsenal and the town's theatre. You can also visit Stari Grad, one of the oldest towns in Europe, protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

For a more low-key escape, visit the charming town of Jelsa, the picturesque village of Vrboska, or the tiny harbour of Milna, each offering a peaceful and authentic island atmosphere.

Overnight on Hvar.

Day 4: HVAR – STARI GRAD – SPLIT (65km – 2hrs)

Check out of your hotel and drive to Stari Grad port to take a ferry across to the mainland city of Split. Spend the day exploring Diocletian's Palace, an ancient Roman fortress that evolved into the bustling heart of modern Split. Walk through the monumental Bronze, Silver, Iron, and Golden Gates. Visit the Peristyle Square, the palace's open-air court, and step into the Cathedral of St. Domnius, originally built as the Emperor’s mausoleum. As the sun sets, join the locals for a đir (leisurely stroll) along the palm-lined Riva Promenade, and enjoy dinner at a traditional konoba (tavern) hidden inside the palace walls.

Overnight in Split.

Day 5: SPLIT

You can take a short drive to the nearby coastal town of Trogir, ideal if you wish for a more relaxed day with less driving (about 30 minutes from Split). You can explore the town and its Cathedral of St. Lawrence, an architectural masterpiece with the famous Radovan's portal or Kamerlengo Tower, a medieval fortress at the very end of Trogir's waterfront with a beautiful view of the city or UNESCO-protected historic center. Stroll through the labyrinth of cobblestone streets that look like an open-air museum. You can continue driving to Šibenik, a great location for history lovers and the impressive architecture of St. Jacob's Cathedral or St. Michael’s Fortress overlooking the canal.

If you are more of a lover of nature, don’t miss visiting Krka National Park (about 1h drive from Split), do the boat ride or walk the small paths and don’t miss seeing Skradinski buk, the largest and most famous waterfall on the Krka River.

Overnight in Split.

Day 6: SPLIT – DUBROVNIK (220km – 3hrs)

Today, you can drive the highway south towards Dubrovnik. After exiting the highway, drive to the Neretva region and, if time permits, visit the Neretva River Delta. Continue the drive via the Pelješac bridge and peninsula and pull over at Ston, located at the gateway to the Pelješac Peninsula. Ston features the longest medieval stone fortress wall system in Europe and ancient salt pans. It is also world-renowned for its incredibly fresh, wild oysters, which you can taste right out of the water at local seafood eateries. Arrive in Dubrovnik and check in.

Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 7: DUBROVNIK

Have an early breakfast and if you didn’t have time on first day to visit city walls, start exactly when they open to beat both the intense summer heat and the crowds. This 2-kilometer (1.2-mile) loop offers uninterrupted views of the terracotta rooftops and the shimmering Adriatic Sea. Descend from the walls onto the main limestone-paved street. Admire Onofrio's Large Fountain, stop by the Franciscan Monastery (home to one of Europe's oldest operational pharmacies), and walk down to Luža Square to see the Clock Tower and Sponza Palace. Visit the Rector's Palace, a beautiful blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture that once housed the city’s ruler. Right next door is the Dubrovnik Cathedral, famous for its gold and silver relics. Find a shaded table in one of the narrow, steep stone alleys branching off the Stradun. Try local seafood like black risotto or grilled squid.

In the afternoon, you can walk to the Old Town Port and take the 15-minute ferry to Lokrum Island. This forested nature reserve is home to wild peacocks, botanical gardens, a dead sea salt lake you can swim in, and the original Iron Throne filming location from Game of Thrones.

Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 8: DEPARTURE DUBROVNIK

Enjoy a tasty breakfast before returning the rental car at the Dubrovnik Airport and catching your return flight home.

Comfortable and warm clothing is the most suitable for travelling. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings. Sun protection, sunglasses, a hat and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
